Hierarchical Neurodevelopment and the Sensorimotor-Association Axis

数据描述

The 10 cortical feature maps and the archetypal sensorimotor-association (S-A) axis displayed in Figures 2B and 2A (respectively) of Sydnor et al., 2021, Neuron are available here in Glasser360-MMP and Schaefer400-17Network parcellations, as well as in FSLR (HCP) and fsaverage5 vertices. The data includes macrostructural, microstructural, functional, metabolic, transcriptomic, and evolutionary features that exhibit systematic variation between lower-order primary sensorimotor regions and higher-order transmodal association regions. The project includes code to generate cortical maps in various atlases and surface spaces, providing rankings along the S-A axis.

Human cortical development follows a hierarchical, sensorimotor-to-association sequence. The brain’s capacity to enact this sequence indicates that it relies on unknown mechanisms to regulate regional differences in the timing of cortical maturation. Given evidence from animal systems that thalamic ...

Environmental influences on brain structure and function during early development have been well-characterized, but whether early environments are associated with the pace of brain development is not clear. In pre-registered analyses, we use flexible non-linear models to test the theory that prenata...

Animal studies of neurodevelopment have shown that recordings of intrinsic cortical activity evolve from synchronized and high amplitude to sparse and low amplitude as plasticity declines and the cortex matures. Leveraging resting-state functional MRI (fMRI) data from 1,033 youths (ages 8–23 years),...

Strong heterogeneity limits precision medicine in youth with mood disorders during major depressive episodes (MDE). Here we propose and evaluate a neurobiomarker-guided repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) strategy in a double-blind randomized controlled trial. Using multicenter resti...
