Solar Orbiter Archive

The Solar Orbiter Archive (SOAR) version 1.17.0 is a collaborative effort between the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA designed to study how the Sun generates and controls the heliosphere, addressing four key scientific questions about solar wind origins, heliospheric variability, particle radiation from eruptions, and the solar dynamo's role. The dataset provides access to science data products, additional information from instrument teams, comprehensive help guides, and support resources for researchers studying solar physics and heliophysics.

Solar eruptions are sudden ejections of coronal mass and magnetic fields accompanied by intense energy release. The eruptive structure does not always erupt successfully: it sometimes fails to escape the Sun after initiation. The failure of an eruption, however, provides an invaluable opportunity fo...

Solar flares release a tremendous amount of magnetic energy that subsequently manifests in several forms; the bulk of this energy is transported through the Sun’s atmosphere and explosively heats the chromosphere. While hard X-ray observations have pointed to flare-accelerated electrons as a primary...

Magnetic reconnection is a fundamental process within highly conductive plasmas. Oppositely oriented field lines are reconfigured, releasing stored magnetic energy. It plays a vital role in shaping the dynamics of the solar corona and provides one of the main mechanisms for releasing the stored ener...

The second Venus flyby of the BepiColombo mission offer a unique opportunity to make a complete tour of one of the few gas-dynamics dominated interaction regions between the supersonic solar wind and a Solar System object. The spacecraft pass through the full Venusian magnetosheath following the pla...
